Ex-Newcastle winger Solano arrested over go to the party break lockdown


Iconic former Newcastle United winger Nolberto Solano was detained in his native Peru for breaking the country's coronavirus lockdown to travel to a celebration , consistent with reports on Friday.

The 45-year-old became the primary Peruvian to hitch an English Premier League team when he signed for Newcastle in 1998, quickly becoming a firm fan favorite.

Television channel RPP said Solano, who is a component of the backroom coaching staff on the Peruvian national team, was arrested on Thursday night within the La Molina neighborhood of the capital Lima.

"He was taken to the La Molina police headquarters for having not respected the mandatory window to remain reception , but he was later released," said RPP.

"What I did wasn't good, but don't make me bent be everything that's bad within the country. i used to be during a house that's not my house, I see tons of people doing it," Solano told RPP.

"I understand everything that's being said about protection. i feel you are making a much bigger distribute of this example than what it's ," added Solano, who also played for Aston Villa, West Ham and Leicester City during quite a decade in England.

Before that he had made his name playing for Boca Juniors alongside Argentina great Diego Maradona, who wont to call him the "little maestro" thanks to his free-kick expertise.

Solano denied he had been to a celebration claiming he was simply at a gathering of six people, two blocks from his home, adding that he doesn't have the virus.

Peru has imposed mandatory home isolation for non-essential reasons, a nighttime curfew and border closures, although banks, pharmacies and food shops remain open.

Some 18,000 people are arrested for breaking home isolation rules during a country that has reported 580 coronavirus cases and nine deaths.

Interior Minister Carlos Moran has said the govt is compiling a register of these to interrupt the principles which offenders could confront to 3 years in prison.
